TD Mobile App

What I do
As UX Design Lead, I manage two design teams focused on the dashboard and settings experiences. I set design direction, build prototypes for rapid alignment, and guide the delivery of major features.

Why it matters
The TD app is used by millions daily, and our work shapes the core surfaces where customers view, manage, and understand their finances. By combining strategic leadership with hands-on design, I help scale both the product and the design culture behind it.

Background

On the TD Mobile App team, I lead with practices like dual-track planning, rapid prototyping, and clear design principles to keep work moving with purpose. My focus is on coaching rather than control, creating space for designers to stay close to their craft while navigating complex problems. Together we’ve shipped impactful features, explored new opportunities with AI, and built a culture defined by autonomy, clarity, and thoughtful execution.

Aligning Teams Through a Shared Language

One of my first initiatives at TD was developing a unified What’s New style guide. A Figma resource designed to bring consistency and clarity to how we communicate new features across the mobile app. In a large organization with many teams and product owners, this became essential for cross-functional alignment.

The guide didn’t just streamline visual and tone standards, it gave everyone, from designers and writers to project managers and developers, a single source of truth. Centralizing everything in one place helped reduce back-and-forth, speed up production, and ensure that every release felt cohesive, no matter who touched it.

Designing a smarter framework for in-app messaging

Our team was tasked with designing and launching a new marketing surface that would meet ambitious business objectives while maintaining a respectful user experience. The challenge wasn’t just visual design, but creating the logic behind when and how these messages should appear without overwhelming customers.

Together, we developed a suppression system that prioritized timing, frequency, and message type. By auditing all existing popups and collaborating with other teams to anticipate future ones, we created a framework that reduced collisions and fatigue while still meeting business requirements.

The outcome was a modular, scalable system that aligned marketing goals with user trust. What began as a single project evolved into a cross-platform framework now used to guide messaging consistency across the mobile app.

Making it all work

Beyond individual initiatives, my role as UX Design Lead sits at the center of two core areas in the TD mobile app (dashboard and settings) while also connecting across every mobile app team. I work closely with product, research, and engineering to guide our roadmap and keep the design process grounded in real user needs. Whether it’s developing shared systems like our in-app messaging framework or prototyping new AI features, I help teams align, ship, and evolve with clarity. In a space as complex as banking, I see my job as making the invisible connective work of design more visible, consistent, and impactful.
